Whil Hentzen will tell us about web development with Flask.
Last fall, Pierce asked for volunteers to do a series of talks on various choices for building web applications with Python. I’d been dipping my toe into the Flask world on and off for the last year or so, and thought this would be a great opportunity to synthesize my findings so far.
In this fast-paced, car-chase laden 30 minute session, we’ll peel back the curtains to introduce Flask, a micro-framework for web development in Python.
We’ll first look at the install, using a virtual environment, and then walk through the creation of our first “Hello World, from Flask!” web application, all 10 lines of it, on localhost.
From there, as time permits, we’ll add several pieces of functionality, one at a time, demonstrating some basic mechanisms of how Flask works.
