Today StartingBlock announced the $20,000 StartingBlock Grant Program for Members. In these unprecedented times, we know your business may be experiencing COVID-19 disruptions. To help you meet these current challenges, the StartingBlock Board has approved up to $20,000 in grants to companies inside of our StartingBlock community. These grants can be used for anything and are non-restricted so long as they go towards COVID-19 relief or entrepreneurially adapting to the new world of COVID-19.This includes but is not limited to:
  • Paying overhead or payroll
  • Moving operations virtually
  • Pivoting your product/company (or launching a new company) to address a new opportunity or community need resulting from COVID-19
There are three requirements to the program:
1) you or your company is a member of the StartingBlock community;
2) there is a hardship or initiative generated by COVID-19 that makes this grant necessary;
and 3) the dollars address a company or community need or opportunity due to COVID-19.
Applications are now open and will be reviewed starting Wednesday, May 6th, 2020 and regularly after that as funds remain available. The maximum grant amount per company will be $2,500. All situations and ideas are welcome to apply. Please note, this grant is in addition to the Covid-19 Relief Program that was established last week. Individuals and companies who applied for that program can still apply to this grant.

In addition to this, Dane County has recently authorized $10.8M in grants for small businesses in Dane County. The Dane County Small Business Pandemic Support Grant Program, administered by Dane Buy Local, is available for small businesses experiencing financial difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. Dane County and Dane Buy Local hope to help local businesses survive the COVID-19 public health crisis, which has caused many to temporarily close their doors. Through this grant program, businesses will be able to apply for funding to help stay afloat and retain employees. We encourage small business owners throughout our community to apply. Grant awards will range from $1,000 to $50,000.
If you have any questions please let me know.
Stay safe and be well!-Forrest Woolworth (StartingBlock Board Chair)
