Marc Yarmoff and Nathan Eggenberger join as Community Manager and Membership Manager respectively.
Over the last two months the StartingBlock Madison team has grown with two recent new hires. We are excited to announce the addition of Nathan Eggenberger as our Membership Manager and Marc Yarmoff as our Community Manager in July. They join Executive Director, Chandra Miller Fienen, and will play critical roles towards StartingBlock’s goals of cultivating entrepreneurship and building an interconnected ecosystem here in Madison. Marc will be leading community building efforts, and Nathan will be the first point of contact for StartingBlock community members.
Marc Yarmoff recently moved to Madison from Paris, France where he was building entrepreneurial communities and culture for Inria, the french public research organization in Computer Science and Automation. In France he connected prospective entrepreneurs with the resources they needed to turn their high-impact research into high-impact startups. Before that, Marc was the Startup Community Manager for MassChallenge Boston where he was responsible for the startup experience of the 128 startups that participated in the program yearly. Marc is a specialist in community building and startup support who lives to interact with people. He is excited about Madison’s dynamic startup ecosystem and by how approachable midwesterners are! He graduated from Tufts University with a BA in International Relations and Environmental Economics.
As Community Manager, Marc will be focussing on building relations with the broader Madison ecosystem on behalf of StartingBlock Madison. StartingBlock is committed to cultivating and growing startups, sharing innovative ideas, and encouraging a culture of giving back. We see community relations and partnerships as essential to the success of these initiatives. Marc will grow StartingBlock events and programming initiatives in an effort to provide entrepreneurs with quality information and resources. Marc brings a familiarity with entrepreneurial ecosystem building and a fresh look on the Madison ecosystem to the team. The strategic location of StartingBlock in the Spark building gives him a headstart in relationship-building. If you would like to connect with Marc, email marc@startingblockmadison.org.
Nathan Eggenberger graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison last May with a Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Certificate in Entrepreneurship, and many contributions to the campus startup community. After starting his first company, a charity concert series in Milwaukee, Nathan used what he learned to start other companies and create organisations to promote entrepreneurship on campus. He became Startup Learning Communities first Student Entrepreneur in Residence, turning a small office into a startup mentorship center dubbed Sellery Valley. That same year, he created and implemented the Innovation and Entrepreneurship coursework for the Information Technology Academy, volunteered on the leadership committee of Capital Entrepreneurs as a student liaison, was the UW-Madison Director of Google’s StartupGrind, and co-founded Innovators Coalition, the largest student-run co-working space on campus and proud partner organization of StartingBlock Madison.
As Membership Manager, Nathan will be channeling his innovative energy into improving the StartingBlock experience. He will be a dedicated resource for all StartingBlock members, creating new community-building initiatives and taking care of any and all needs StartingBlock companies have during their time with us. If you would like to get in contact with Nathan, email nathan@startingblockmadison.org.
Welcome aboard!
