Sorting the Financial Chaos, One LEGO Brick at a Time
For many entrepreneurs, managing business finances feels like being handed a massive box of LEGO pieces—without the instructions. That analogy, says Victoria Thayer, perfectly describes how chaotic it can be to run a business without a clear financial plan.

"Imagine if you were building a giant LEGO castle, but you didn’t have the instructions and the pieces were all mixed up," she says. "It’d be really hard to know where to start or if you were doing it right. That’s how a lot of business owners feel when it comes to their money."
As the founder of Novii CPA, Thayer has made it her mission to help startups and growing businesses sort through the clutter. Her team handles taxes, payroll, budgeting, and more—but more importantly, they act as strategic partners, helping clients build smarter, stronger companies. “We’re not just about numbers—we’re about helping people grow with clarity and confidence,” she says.
The Lightbulb Moment: Making the Numbers Make Sense for Others
Thayer’s lightbulb moment came during her time in public accounting, where she worked closely with early-stage companies brimming with big ideas but bogged down by financial blind spots.
"They were being held back by unclear financials, slow reporting, or advisors who didn’t really understand the pace they were moving at," she recalls. It became clear that the startup world needed more than compliance support—they needed a financial translator.
"Startups needed more than just tax prep or bookkeeping," she explains. "They needed a partner who could grow with them, speak their language, and help them scale intentionally."
Her innovative approach hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2024, Thayer was recognized by In Business Magazine as one of Madison’s 40 Under 40, celebrating her as a next-generation leader reshaping the region’s business landscape.
Advice for Fellow Founders: Launch Ugly, Learn Fast
At StartingBlock, Thayer often meets founders caught in a loop of over-planning. Her advice? Let go of perfection.
"Launch the version you can today, get feedback, and improve as you go," she says. "Whether it's your product, your pricing, or your pitch, real growth comes from action—not overthinking."
She’s also a big believer in feedback over flattery. "Surround yourself with people who challenge you, not just cheer for you. That’s where the magic happens."
